A church in Ishnin which is called St George church has a blessed well lies about 80 meters at the north of its building.
A local oral tradition relates that the water of this well was blessed by the Lord Jesus when the Holy Family passed through.
The holy Family passed through this village on their way from "El-Maadi" to Baysus (Dair El-Garnus) during their escape to Egypt.
Another version of this local tradition speaks of a well under the baptistry at the western end of the southern aisle of the church.
In former times, many people offered prayers in "Ishnin", so that there were as many churches in this locality as there were days in the year (Otto Meinardus "The Holy Family in Egypt").
Al-Makrizi ,an old arabian historican, (14th century) said that there were more than one hundered and sixty churches in "Ishnin" locality and all of them were destroyed except four.He also said that most of the people in Ishnin are christians and responsible for the authorised security duties.
